Staff Accountant
POSITION SUMMARY
Prepares journal entries, reconciliations, and reports for various functions within the accounting department
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitates and completes monthly close procedures
- Prepares monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Reconciles cash accounts, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other accounts as assigned
- Identifies, researches, and explains account fluctuations within the income statement and balance sheet to management
- Reviews vendor invoices to verify the accuracy of relevant information, identify errors, correct errors, and communicate results to relevant stakeholders
- Analyzes the performance and profitability of various customers and relay these results to management on a monthly basis
- Assists with external financial audit and tax audits as needed
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting; internship or professional accounting experience is desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs. at times
