Volunteer Board Treasurer Wanted
Who Is the Brain Injury Association of Nebraska?
We’re Nebraska’s only statewide nonprofit solely focused on brain injury support. BIA-NE helps survivors and their families navigate life after brain injury through resource facilitation, peer mentoring, education, and advocacy. And we do it all with compassion, creativity, and a little hustle.
Our mission is simple but powerful: To create a better future for all Nebraskans affected by brain injury.
We’re a small but mighty team that values collaboration, common sense, and showing up with heart. Our board reflects that energy - and we’d love to bring someone on who shares it. And we believe kindness, transparency, and snacks make every board meeting better!
What You’ll Do (besides eat cookies!)
- Provide financial oversight to support mission-driven decisions
- Review monthly financial reports (we promise they’re not scary)
- Partner with staff to develop budgets and financial policies
- Lead the finance committee and advise the board on nonprofit best practices
- Translate financials into plain English for fellow board members
- Keep an eye out for trends, red flags, and ways to strengthen our impact
What We’re Looking For
- Background in accounting, finance, or budgeting (CPA not required, but we’ll still be impressed)
- Experience with nonprofit financials or QuickBooks is a plus
- Able to commit 2–3 hours per month
- Someone who’s thoughtful, thorough, and not afraid to ask “Wait—why are we doing it that way?”
- Appreciation for homemade cookies (the Executive Director bakes… it’s kind of her thing!)
