Performs highly responsible professional work directing department or agency activities including budgeting, revenue and expenditure forecasting, cash management, accounting systems, financial aid reimbursement, auditing, disbursing, cost accounting, automated financial management information systems, and financial management analyses; performs related work as required.

This position is under the direction of the Department of Revenue’s executive leadership team. 

 Duties include: • Manage and control activities and personnel within the Finance Section of the Department. Develop objectives and goals, strategic plans, policies, and priorities for the section. Oversee and monitor the work of subordinates within the section.

• Plan, organize and direct budget and financial activities related to both operating and aid programs for the Department.

• Confers and collaborates with public servants within Revenue, including directors, and the Tax Commissioner, other agencies and governmental entities, including public servants in the governor’s office, Revenue tax programs, budget issues, accounting policies, resolve problems, explain proper application of accounting policies, coordinate activities so that goals/objectives are achieved and to facilitate quality service delivery.

• Develops objectives, concepts and policies governing the management of revenues and expenditures in accordance with principles of governmental accounting.

• Establishes concepts and policies for financial reporting systems to control operations and comply with statutes and federal reimbursement directives.

• Develops concepts and systems for presentations of financial resources related to programmed activities to facilitate the programming of funds.

• Plans, organizes and directs activities of budget, accounting systems, cost accounting, disbursing, finance and revenue, and financial aid.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, plus seven years experience in the accounting field, including the development of governmental budgeting and accounting systems utilizing EDPE with at least three years responsible supervisory experience. 

Preferred: A Master’s degree and CPA certificate are highly desirable.

Salary range:  $34.07 - $51.11 per hour
