K.C. Belitz is currently the Director of the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, being appointed to the position by Governor Jim Pillen in July of 2023.

Prior to joining DED, K.C. served four years as Chief Operating Officer of the Nebraska Community Foundation, working with NCF staff, volunteers, donors and organizational partners to impact the future of Greater Nebraska. 

K.C. lives in Columbus but spends his time at the Lincoln office of DED or traveling to work with Nebraskans across the state. 

Previously, K.C. served as President of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce since 2000.  K.C. is a native of Columbus and graduate of Columbus High School and Northeast Missouri State Univ. (now Truman University).  He and his wife Colleen are the parents of their daughter Emerson, who is a graduate of UNL and now works for an analyst relations firm.

Kevin Foral has over 20 years of experience providing clients with federal and state and local tax services, including federal and state and local tax credits and incentives, sales and use tax, income/franchise tax, property tax, and cost segregation. He spends much of his time in the federal and state and local tax credits and incentives arena as a leader in the firm's Energy & Excise tax credit practice and former Central Region Leader of State and Local Credits & Incentives. Kevin regularly advises clients on clean energy incentives including those in the Inflation Reduction Act. Kevin's expertise includes various state statutory tax credit programs and has extensive experience assisting clients with discretionary and negotiated incentives. He also assists private equity groups with securing federal and state tax credits and incentives during mergers and acquisitions, as well as assisting their portfolio companies in ongoing maintenance and compliance of credits and incentives.

Dan Maniatis, Senior Manager, RSM US LLP

With eight years of public accounting and tax experience, Dan is a senior manager in the Firm's federal tax credits and incentives practice, specializing in the research and development (R&D) tax credit. He delivers advice and consultation services regarding a wide variety of issues emerging from federal and state R&D legislation and performs R&D studies for various industries, including manufacturing, construction, and food processing.
Dan's technical experiences include corporate income tax compliance and consulting with an emphasis in credits, incentives, and accounting methods. Specifically, he has experience with tax compliance consulting under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) sections 41, 174, and 263A.

Brian M. Klintworth, CPA, MT is a partner at HBE LLP in Lincoln.  He has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with an emphasis in accounting and finance.  In addition, he has a Master of Taxation from the University of Denver's Sturm College of Law.  Brian's practice in public accounting is primarily focused on taxation, with an emphasis in specialized tax consulting, M&A transactions, estate/succession planning, tax research, and other tax-related items.  He has experience in preparing all types of tax returns, including individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates/trusts, and more.

Tommy Stephens received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree (Major in Accounting) from Auburn University in 1985. In 1992, he earned a Master of Science degree (Major in Finance) from Georgia State University in Atlanta. Presently, Tommy is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Information Technology Professional, and a Chartered Global Management Accountant.

During his professional career, Tommy has gained valuable experience in a variety of positions, including:

• Working as an auditor and technology consultant for an Atlanta-based public accounting firm;
• Leading an Internal Audit staff and managing a Cost Accounting team for a Fortune 500 company;
• Serving as a Chief Financial Officer for an international engineering organization; and
• Founding and managing his public accounting firm that provides accounting, tax, and consulting services to individuals and a variety of small and emerging businesses.

In 1995, Tommy began authoring and presenting continuing professional education courses to accounting and finance professionals. In 2003, he affiliated with K2 Enterprises, and in 2007, he joined the firm as a partner. Over the past thirty-eight years, Tommy has presented over 3,100 educational sessions to over 78,000 participants throughout the United States and Canada.

Tommy maintains professional memberships with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Additionally, he is a past member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Ben Pankonin is a seasoned entrepreneur, tech innovator, and community leader. A veteran in the banking and financial services space, Ben is especially knowledgeable about the obstacles community banks, credit unions, and financial brands face in authentically engaging their customers and communities in an increasingly digital environment. As a thought leader and speaker, Ben draws on decades of experience leading scaled growth and is particularly adept at navigating the complexities of heavily regulated industries. His approach is to challenge teams and leaders to take realistic and actionable next steps toward innovation and growth with the big picture in mind. 

Ben serves as CEO of Social Assurance--a SaaS company he co-founded in 2011 that today serves over 1,500 financial brands nationwide. Ben studied computer science and business administration at Nebraska Wesleyan University. He remains actively involved in numerous community groups, including serving on several nonprofit boards and within entrepreneurship groups and programs, including the Pipeline Entrepreneurs and the Chamber of Commerce Founders group.
